TRANSFORMING HIGHER EDUCATION DATA PROCESSES

It is important for a higher education institution to understand its strengths and weaknesses in order to organise its resources effectively. It can be difficult to understand where the institution ranks amongst its competitors both overall and within specific criteria. Factors such as student experience, teaching quality, student-staff ratios and other metrics are difficult to track effectively and easily. What is needed is a clear platform that can visualise and track performance indicators clearly over time so that the university can attract more students and improve performance.

IMPLEMENTATION APPROACH

With this approach, Billigence will build your institution the model. The model will have to be maintained internally by your team.

With this approach, Billigence will host and maintain the model. For a yearly fee, your institution will have access to the model. This does not require maintenance on the part of your institution.

THE SOLUTION

Billigence has created a platform in which a higher education institution can clearly track its performance in comparison to its competition. The platform allows for the planning office to clearly see where they rank on individual indicators as well as overall. The league tables analysis is an effective visual tool that contains predictive modelling in order to facilitate better overall planning. Example images of this solution can be found below.

Higher Education League Tables Analysis

In this platform, the overall institutional performance can be compared with the competition on a yearly basis, with a clear visualisation showing the rankings. The graph on the right allows planners to view a metric analysis graph, with filter down options allowing quick and easy analysis. In this example, UCAS entry points is on the X axis, with student experience on the Y axis.

This dashboard allows planners to drill down on specific metrics in order to compare performance to other universities. This dashboard enables data to be explored, which is a simple and effective method of pinpointing strengths and weaknesses. This is very helpful when making decisions pertaining to the allocation funds and resources.

“Billigence’s approach to enabling my team to use Alteryx has been first class. We never felt lost in the complexity of the process and Billigence was able to teach us and show us what we needed to do simultaneously.  It was also great fun.  We made far more progress in one working week with Billigence than we had dreamed was possible at the start of the project.  Undoubtedly we will become avid Alteryx users and keep our link to Billigence’s expertise on student number planning to ensure our University prospers.”
